Wedding Cake FAQs

Q. Can I have different flavours for each tier of my wedding cake?

Yes of course. Please check the Flavours page to see some of the choices you could go for. Or, if you do not see the flavour you would like, just let me know as (nearly) nothing is impossible to make. However please note I do not make fresh cream cakes for wedding cakes.

Q. I want flowers on my cake, what are the options?
There are three options:

• Edible sugar flowers

• Silk flowers

• Real flowers - these can match you bouquet or floral decor. Your florist will need to supply the flowers for the wedding cake; we will then liaise with them to ensure everything is to your satisfaction.

Q. How far in advance do we need to order our wedding cake?
I would advise booking at least three months in advance, to ensure your date is available.

Q. Can you make gluten and dairy free wedding cakes?
Yes. Various cakes available.

Q. Can I hire a stand and cake knife? How does it work?
Certainly, you can hire a stand and cake knife for a small charge and deposit which are to be paid with your balance which is 2 weeks before your wedding date. Below is an example of stands available and their hire prices/deposits:

  • Silver or gold base stands - Square or Round avail. £12.00 (£35.00 deposit)

  • Shaped silver chrome stands from £18.00 (£75.00 deposit)

  • Transparent perspex cupcake stands £10 (22.00 deposit)

  • Cake slice and knife £3.00 (£10.00 deposit)

For the deposit, you can send a cheque which I will keep until after the wedding. This will be returned (posted) to you when the stand is delivered safely, or you can pay by any of the other means of payment I accept and I will return the deposit to you the same way you paid.

RETURNING STANDS: If you have hired any stands or other props from me, they should be cleaned and returned the day after the wedding. Address will be provided in advance. Alternatively, you can choose a ‘stress free’ option and have me take care of collecting the items from the venue for a flat rate of £15.00.

LATE STANDS OR KNIVES: If you choose to return the items yourself, any late stands or knives will be subject to a charge of £15 per day.

Q. How do I make payment?

Wedding cakes require a 50% (non refundable) deposit at the time of booking. The balance is due 2 weeks prior to delivery/collection. I accept Paypal, bank transfer and cash and details of these will be provided to you at time of booking.

Q. How do I store my cake?
Cakes should be stored in a cool dry place unless stated otherwise. Sponge cakes will stay fresh for up to 5 days if stored well, in its box wrapped in cling film or, in an airtight container. Cupcakes will keep for 2 to 3 days if stored well. Wrapped well in cling film and in the freezer, fruitcakes can keep for up to 1 year. DO NOT REFRIGERATE cakes as this will cause them to dry out.

Q. How many portions will my wedding cake provide?

Below is an illustration of the portions provided:
